Curves offers a range of women’s gym specialty classes, from lower-intensity Balance and Body Basics classes, to higher-intensity Cardio and Boxing classes, that combine strength training, cardio, and stretching. With a wide range of classes available, you can always find a program that works for you. And as a member of Curves, you can take as many classes as you’d like.
Every class at Curves is a group fitness class. Our classes are designed for groups and incorporate the circuit and the help of a professional Curves coach to make sure you’re getting the most out of your workout. 30 minutes a day is all you need to enjoy the numerous health benefits of exercise.
Curves hydraulic resistance machines are ideal for women of any fitness level to achieve results. The machines are built to create resistance that intensifies with effort and helps to improve stability and create a strong core.
Exercising if you have osteoporosis means finding the safest and most enjoyable activities for your overall health and amount of bone loss, so there’s no single best exercise for osteoporosis.1 Strength training exercises, such as the Curves workout, are often the exercises recommended for people with osteoporosis because regular exercise is essential for treating and preventing osteoporosis. Stability and balance exercises are also beneficial to better prevent falls, so our Balance class and Boxing classes are great options to help improve your stability. Resistance training exercises, like the Curves workout, will help you get stronger but won’t make you “bulk up.” With strength training, you may add a few pounds in the short term — because muscle is more dense than fat — but that muscle will contribute to a leaner and healthier you. What’s more, if you don’t preserve your muscles with strength training, you will lose about a 3-5% per decade after age 30.3 Strength training is a key component of a full body workout that can help you lose weight, get healthier and enjoy a more active lifestyle.

Yes and no. Strength training is a type of resistance training, so all strength training is resistance training. Resistance training means you’re building muscle by overloading the muscles—whether from your own weight, free weights, a resistance band or a machine — but building muscle isn’t the main goal of resistance training, increasing strength is the primary goal.

That depends on several factors, including your personal health goals, your age, existing medical conditions, and how quickly you want to see results. The World Health Organization recommends 150 minutes of exercise per week.4 To achieve this, working out at Curves would be three to four 30-minute sessions, plus one or two 30-minute walks per week.
